How to Read the Results

Pay Equity Results
  • The four summary cards show total employees analysed, overall average salary, the gender pay gap percentage between male and female employees, and the overall equity status which displays Equitable, Minor Gap, Significant Gap, or Insufficient Data if male and female employees are not both present.
Gender Pay Gap Analysis
  • This table compares the average salary by gender group and shows the pay gap percentage and dollar amount for each group measured against the highest-paid group.
  • The highest-paid gender group is labelled Highest Group in blue. This is the reference point all other groups are measured against. It does not indicate a pay gap result.
  • All other gender groups are assigned one of three equity statuses. Below 5% is Equitable shown in green, 5% to 15% is a Minor Gap shown in amber, and above 15% is a Significant Gap shown in red.
Employee Detail
  • This table shows each individual's salary compared against their gender group average. A positive percentage means the employee earns above their group average and a negative percentage means they earn below it.
  • If only one employee exists in a gender group, the vs Gender Group Average will show +0.0% as the employee is being compared against their own salary. This is expected and accurate. The Gender Pay Gap Analysis table above remains the primary reference in this case.
  • Results reflect the raw unadjusted pay gap and are intended for internal planning purposes only. They do not constitute legal compliance advice.

Understanding Pay Gaps

  • A pay gap is the difference in average salary between gender groups. It does not automatically mean employees in the same role are being paid differently.
  • This calculator measures the raw unadjusted pay gap, which is the same method used in statutory gender pay gap reporting under the UK Equality Act 2010 and EU Pay Transparency Directive 2023/970.
  • A Minor Gap or Significant Gap is a prompt to investigate further, not a confirmation of unlawful pay practices.
  • The next step when a gap is identified is to review salaries within the same role or seniority level and seek guidance from a qualified HR or legal professional.
